What prices do you charge for raccoon removal?

Please be aware that nuisance wildlife control is a specialty field. We have no basic rates since each raccoon situation is different; therefore, we have no set pricing. We have many operating costs, including licensing, insurance, supplies, equipment, and the peril we face, such as climbing on steep roofs and exposure to diseases like rabies. Nuisance wildlife control is not less expensive than any other highly skilled profession like plumbing, heating and cooling, and electrical work.

If you can accurately describe your problem by phone, we may give you an approximate cost. But to be honest, it’s always best to have one of our Sandusky Raccoon Removal specialists go to your home and access your nuisance raccoon issue.

Raccoon Diseases

Do you think the raccoons in my home may have rabies?
Raccoons in Ohio can have rabies, particularly in the northeastern part of the state. You or your pets can become exposed to rabies when a raccoon bites them, so NEVER approach a raccoon in your home and call us at (419) 552-2001.

The following are signs a raccoon may have rabies:

  1. Staggering gait.
  2. Seemingly oblivious to noise or nearby movement.
  3. Erratic wandering.
  4. Discharge from eyes or mouth.
  5. Wet and matted hair on the face.
  6. Repeated high-pitch vocalization.
  7. Self-mutilation.

What diseases do raccoons have other than rabies?
It is unusual for raccoons to spread diseases to people and pets. Raccoons can acquire canine distemper, a viral disease that infects unvaccinated dogs but does not affect humans.

The primary health concern is raccoon roundworm since the eggs can survive a long time in raccoon feces, become airborne when dry, breathed in, and can infect you, your family, and pets.

How can I keep raccoons away from my home?
Well, first, it takes a great deal of work if your area is prone to raccoons. But prevention is the key to successfully reducing your chance of encountering raccoons.  You can do the following:

  1. Keep garbage cans inside a locked building, or if you leave your garbage can outside, have it locked down.
  2. If you have bird feeders, make sure a raccoon cannot climb them.
  3. Do not leave any pet food outside, especially cat food.
  4. You may want to put a strong fence around your garden and some length of it into the ground. Raccoons love strawberries, fruit growing on trees, peas, potatoes, and melons.

We discovered we had an animal in our attic late on a Saturday afternoon. I found Buckeye Wildlife online and sent a text to the provided number. The response was immediate. They were there on Monday, raccoon removed by Tuesday morning. They provided full service from pest removal, removal of contaminated insulation, cleanup, disinfecting the area, replacing insulation, and closing the entry point to keep the evil critters out!! I met 4 different employees in the process and each was professional and easy to work with… I have already recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.
